Meet Hannah

Yesterday I had the wonderful pleasure of spending the day with Hannah and Paige after we landed from an early flight back from Denver. We went to downtown Seattle and shopped all afternoon and it was WONDERFUL. I was able to catch up on some much needed caffeine consumption and get a new pair of jeans! I must have tried on at least 94 pairs before I finally found a pair of Joe's that fit perfectly. I've never been a fan of the skinny/cigarette cut (on me) until now! I'm still not a fan actually--these are the exception, NOT the rule. Yes, that was a He's Just Not That Into You reference.

Hannah is such a gem. She's from So Cal and played volleyball in Montana until blessing us with her presence here in Seattle. If this city were to give out a best dressed of the day award, she would win hands down. Take a look at her gorgeous ensemble and just try and prove me wrong.

Bag-MARC BY MARC JACOBS 'Classic Q - Huge Hiller' Hobo in Black
Glasses-Gucci Aviators (Similar to These)
Dress-Urban Outfitters 'Pins and Needles Crochet Dress' (Almost out of stock, this and this are similar alternatives)
Belt-Sorry, thrifted! Almost any belt would look fantastic with this dress, especially one with some texture and color.
Sandals-I love mentioning these Steve Madden 'Serenite' Sandals whenever I get the chance for obvious reasons.

As soon as I saw her bag I knew I was going to have to blog ABOUT it! I've been pondering getting a Marc Jacobs wallet over my current Michael Kors and seeing this amazing accessory on Hannah makes me want to take the plunge. It was oh-so-hot yesterday and her off-white dress looked so fresh and clean in the middle of downtown Seattle. I was kind of ticked that her belt was thrifted because now I don't have a shot at getting it...I'll just have to do some thrifting of my own! I still love aviators even though some say they're "SO last season"...these classic shades will always be in style. She wasn't wearing the Steve Maddens linked above, but her (similar) black sandals complemented her outfit nicely. Shout out to Hannah for being such a great model :)

That's all for today, it's time to move into my new apartment! Have a Happy Monday!

Missing

I haven't had ANY of this all day and it's been pretty rough. I'm pretty positive I'm addicted...

I also can't wait to come home to THIS new (replacement) beauty! I've been missing it :(

Traveling is nice, but it will be wonderful to come home to this again...

Lastly, if I could come home to this, my life might just be complete.

Ponchos

Match 5 and 6 tomorrow! We're playing Cal Baptist and Nebraska Omaha and will have some tough competition all weekend, especially in our final two matches on Saturday.

When people talk about wearing ponchos, I think everyones first thought is along the lines of this gem, but this doesn't have to be this way! New trend for fall is the poncho and I'm so ready to jump on fashion bandwagon (after a volleyball season full of sweats and t-shirts, of course). Here are a few variations on this simple and versatile piece.

My Friends are #Hot

I have some pretty awesome best friends. Alli and Morgan write about "All Things Important" for We Out Here Magazine where they sum up anything and everything going on in the world of pop culture. They have the ability to turn boring details into things that make you literally laugh out loud. Just recently they wrote an article covering the VMAs; here are a few excerpts from their most recent pop culture commentary:

If Jessie J’s broken leg didn’t make you feel bad enough, her lack of talent would have done the trick. The woman entertained the audience during commercial breaks with her covers of current radio hits.
It makes you wonder what crazy $h!t will go down next year… Miley pregnant? Justin Bieber the father? Lady Gaga’s not really a lady? Kanye West is a gentleman?
Side note: The best part of the whole night was the new episode of J Shore that aired right before the awards. Even though it pissed us off that Ron didn’t take out Mike, it was funny to see Mike send himself to the hospital via cement wall. #ThatAintRight

Their #hashtagging is a perfect segue into another post by the beautiful Alli and Morgan as well as the inspiration for this post, #ToTweet or #NottoTweet. (if you don't know what hashtagging  is, CLICK it and educate yourself!) Here they give a rundown of who to follow on Twitter starting with The Dark Lord himself.

@Lord_Voldemort7: Cynical has never been so funny. You don’t have to love Harry Potter to follow this dark tweeting mastermind. Whether it’s calling out the social elite or simply bashing on Justin Bieber this wizard makes pop culture his #beyotch.

Wow, I love and miss my friends. Shout out to @mauracasad for coming up to Seattle this weekend. Another shout out to my sister @MaddieOslie for making the varsity volleyball team! #madprops.

Twitter is taking over the world. There were hashtags on CNN during the presidential debate! It's such a fun and easy way to keep in touch with things you actually care about. It's like facebook, but with Twitter you don't feel bad about not following your awkward friend who posts statuses about her boring life 27 times a day. You also have a chance to follow some of these HILARIOUS gems:

@FirstWorldPains is definitely my favorite tweeter. They voice the complaints that we all have in a way that makes you feel ashamed about having first class amenities. This can also transition into real life. When a teammate says that "this tastes nonfat" or they "already chipped their nail polish", just throw a "FIRST WORLD PAINS" their way and it brings everyone back to appreciating their full fat ice cream and bad nail polish for a few seconds.
Last night I slept on my pillow especially for side sleepers, instead of my one for stomach sleepers. My neck hurts today.

@WhiteGirlProblems is another classic tweeter. Girls have their own problems too, like feeling too fat or being single. This poignant poster calls it like it is.
First I'm gonna play it cool, then I'm gonna play it desperate, then I'm gonna kill myself if he doesn't text me back. #whitegirlproblems

@HipsterMermaid is what Voldemort would be tweeting if he had first world white girl problems. Imagine if cynicism ran into pop culture mixed with annoying Americans and had the ability to tell anyone and everyone how they feel about it. I give you, THE Hipster Mermaid.
I don't get why people get mad when they're tagged in an embarrassing pic on Facebook, yet continue to check-in to places like Applebees.

@TheKyleMcNally deserves a shout out for being the first guy who's admitted to even looking at my blog! Whether he's just really into fashion and cute country living or just really creepy, this 6'6" Sprague graduate turned Willamette University basketball player is still a really cool guy.
(I'd quote one of his tweets, but I'll just say "Basketball" and that should sum them all up.)

Goodnight from Denver, and Happy Tweeting!

Knotty

I'm officially jealous of the below hair. I want long beachy hair that I can braid and knot into gorgeous updos. New trends for fall? Less hair accessories, more au naturale. It's all about using your own hair, plus maybe a headband, to make a statement. First on my list of braids to try is the third from the bottom, how cute is that! Now my hair just needs to grow 8 1/2 inches and turn beachy blonde...

Naked

Finally back from Hawaii! It's nice to be back in Seattle where we can go outside and be warm without sweating. Hawaii was beautiful, but nothing beats coming back (to my second) home. We're headed to Denver on Wednesday! I'm so excited for this trip; my last visit there was filled with concussions and sinus infections as well as some serious elevation issues so hopefully this time around will prove to be a lot more fun.

New favorite color scheme: Nude. I love seeing khaki pants with a cream top and a few chunky bangles. I also love wearing it! I think that anything light and fresh can fall into this nude category, especially this light pink dress below. Even just a simple nude top and complementary shoes work really well together. Sheer fabric can make the aforementioned look even more stunning. Gold and silver are perfect complements to a plain pallet. If you're feeling a little bold, add a pop of neon in the form of a necklace or a few subtle bracelets. Mix it up, and enjoy!

iCraft

Hawaiian internet is driving me BONKERS! It's like I'm trying to get a signal from the mainland or something. Oh well, at least I'm in Hawaii. I'd rather be on the beach instead of on my computer anyway! This DIY project is on the top of my list for the next time I have a painting drop cloth, coral paint, and an hour to spare. This rug is also really similar and I would LOVE to make it as well!
