Sunday Video-Day

I am such a sap. Here are three videos that got the tears flowing last night before I went to bed. The first one is a beautifully done wedding video followed by an engagement video. If you didn't want to get married before, you will now. The third is an inspiring story about the love between a father and son that makes me want to ask, "what's my excuse?". If Starbucks Made Nail Polish

If Starbucks made a shade of nail polish, I would bet anything that it would look like this. It's "Jade is the New Black" by OPI and was my favorite color to steal from my friend Maura while I was home for winter break. I made the Starbucks connection while hanging out there one night and holding the famous holiday cup. I'm finally getting around to posting the picture, I hope you like the color!

I'm Knittin', Kitten!

Hello! Oh my WORD it has been snowing like crazy in Seattle. I can't believe how much snow we've gotten so far and how much school we've missed! We already had a long weekend because of MLK and then we got three days cancelled in a row! At this point I'm just not quite sure what to do with myself. I took up knitting yesterday and finished my first scarf this afternoon! I'm totally hooked. I don't see myself making anything other than scarves mostly because they're the easiest and most mindless things that I could possibly make. Here's a pic of the first one! It's about seven feet long and I can triple wrap it. I just need a tapestry needle now in order to finish the seam. I used a super thick and chunky yarn and a 10mm needle so it came out a little thicker than the template which is fine with me.

The pattern, if anyone is interested, is called the "mistake rib knit" and I took it from this site. It's a K2 P2 stitch repeated until the last three stitches, which are K2 P1. Until noon yesterday, I had no clue what that meant. Let me know if you need some helpful videos to get started, or, just Google away!

Well the next step is getting more yarn, hopefully I can get out of my apartment within a few days! I think this will be my next challenge...I'll need a circular needle and a lot more knowledge about knitting, but who knows, maybe we'll have another huge snow week!
